"We feel SimulEyes represents the cutting edge in 3D technology and is perfect for today's game enthusiasts," stated Trish Wright, Interplay's vice president of marketing. "In the next 12 months we will develop a variety of SimulEyes compatible games. The list already includes Descent I, Descent II, Slipstream 5000, Whiplash, and, this fall, Shattered Steel and Starfleet Academy."

SimulEyes uses StereoGraphics' liquid crystal shutter technology, the standard in workstation visualization environments for over eight years. The shutters in the glasses rapidly alternate in sync with left- and right-eye views on the computer monitor, ensuring that the left eye sees only the left image while the right eye sees only the right. This effectively emulates normal eyesight to restore depth perception.

"With the street price close to what you'd pay for three new PC games, SimulEyes is a terrific value," said Craig Rappaport, product marketing manager for StereoGraphics. "And with over 50 new games in development (20 due by this Christmas) consumers can be confident of a steady flow of new 3D software."

Founded in 1980, StereoGraphics pioneered and developed the market for modern stereoscopic imaging equipment and is the world leader in sales of electro-stereoscopic shuttering eyewear. CrystalEyes, StereoGraphics' flagship product, has an installed base of over 20,000 users in scientific visualization, GIS/mapping, molecular modeling, CAD/CAM CAD/CAM
