Stephens goes online L.A.Stephens Media Stephens Media LLC is a Las Vegas, Nevada diversified media holding company that publishes over 30 newspapers in 8 states, primarily in Nevada and Arkansas.The company has been expanding its interactive Internet business, where it operates online sites for its newspapers Group is off on another online venture as a member of the California Newspapers Partnership with LA.com. LA.com is essentially a city directory for Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. featuring nightlife, events, attractions, dining, shopping and travel. The Web site is currently in a public beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the phase. It also has links for jobs, automobiles and housing. It's another step for Stephens in the direction of online city guides. The joint partnership also includes Gannett Co. and MediaNews Group Not to be confused with Media General, an unrelated newspaper and TV group. MediaNews Group, based in Denver, Colorado, is one of the largest newspaper companies in the United States. , two of the country's biggest newspaper chains. Privately held MediaNews owns and operates 40 daily newspapers in nine states, while publicly traded Gannett owns 101 dailies. LA.com was bought by California Newspapers Partnership in 2002 from David Ezra and Marry Mizrahi of Las Vegas, where Stephens Media is headquartered. Stephens Media's interactive division also produces a similar guide for Hawaii (www.hawaii.com) in partnership with Gannett and one for Las Vegas (www.lasvegas.com) licensed to LasVegas.com LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.
