Stephens analyst tops StarMine rankings. (Banking & Finance).


Dan Moore, vice president and trucking analyst with Stephens Inc., has been named the top analyst in the road and rail sector, according to results of the StarMine 2002 annual survey of analysts' performances for North America.

StarMine is a provider of objective ratings -of securities analysts.

Moore was No. 2 in the road and rail sector last year. He has been with Stephens since 1997, focusing on the trucking and logistics industries.

"We continue to view the industry favorably and expect earnings growth to accelerate with the economy," Moore said. "This will undoubtedly benefit investors with exposure to the sector."

Moore's coverage includes Arkansas Best, CNF Transportation, Covenant Transportation, Heartland Express, J.B. Hunt Transportation, Knight Transportation, Marten Transportation, P.A.M. Transportation, Roadway Coip., Swift Transportation, U.S. Xpress Enterprises, USA Truck, Werner Enterprises and Yellow Corp.

In determining analyst rankings, StarMine tracks every earnings estimate, revision and stock recommendation published in the Thomson Financial/First Call database. Analysts are measured on the return of their stock recommendations and the accuracy of their earnings estimates.
