Stephen Siegel honored by American Jewish Committee.

The American Jewish Committee presented its prestigious Real Estate Division National Human Relations Award to industry leader, Stephen B. Siegel, of CB Richard Ellis at a gala dinner event held at The Pierre recently.

Siegel, a distinguished real estate professional who has been named by Crain's as one of the 100 Most Influential Business Leaders in New York City, was heralded by the century-old human and civil rights group for his professional achievements and devotion to philanthropy and communal responsibility.

Scott Gottlieb, Gary Jacob, Michael Laginestra and Jonathan Mechanic served as co-chairs of the dinner, which brought together more than 350 guests and raised more than $550,000 in support of AJC.

AJC national president E. Robert Goodkind delivered the keynote address. Jonathan Mechanic, a partner with the law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and president of its real estate department, presented the AJC award to Siegel--a framed lithograph offering the words of the ancient sage, Hilleh "If I am not for myself, who is for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when?"

Among his numerous professional and civic affiliations, Siegel is president of the Board of American Friends of Rabin Medical Center and General Chairman of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children. He is a Trustee of the Intrepid Museum Foundation, National Trustee Chair of the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, and sits on the Advisory Board of Baruch College's Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute and on the Business Leadership Council of the City University of New York. He serves on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, Liberty Property Trust, Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America and City Center 55th Street Theater Foundation, and has also served on the Boards of Benjamin Cardozo School of Law and Foundation Fighting Blindness. In addition to his support of the American Jewish Committee, Siegel has received honors and awards from The Crohns & Colitis Foundation, The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, Monmouth University, Baruch College, New York University, The Foundation Fighting Blindness, Israel Cancer Research Fund, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, National Conference of Christians and Jews, Rabin Medical Center, Lower East Side Tenement Museum, United Jewish Appeal, Parker Jewish Institute, The Jeffrey Modell Foundation, Special Olympics of New York, Appraisal Institute, the Real Estate Board of New York and the Young Men's/ Women's Real Estate Association.
