Stephen J. Cannell Productions & Big Stage Entertainment Partner to Place You into The A-Team, The Greatest American Hero and More.
PASADENA, Calif. -- Stephen J. Cannell Productions today announced it has partnered with Big Stage Entertainment to offer a collection of vignettes from classic TV shows on BigStage.com. Users are now able to digitally take on the roles of their favorite characters from The A-Team and The Greatest American Hero, with more to come. Central to the experience is the ability for fans to easily create a life-like 3-D avatar of themselves that literally replaces the role of key characters like Mr. T in videos and photos, instantly. This cutting-edge technology was developed by Big Stage. To register and play, visit www.bigstage.com.
Using three snapshots taken with a standard digital camera, Big Stage maps the detailed contours of your face to create your life-like 3-D replica, called an @ctor[TM]. In about a minute, this incredibly accurate and animated digital version of you is born, seemingly alive through realistic movements and gestures. It can then be styled with any number of accessories, from hair to eyeglasses, hats and more. From here, your @ctor can be projected into everything from television clips and still images to virtual worlds and videogames. It can also act as your profile picture on popular social networks like MySpace and Facebook.
"The television audience has evolved dramatically over the past ten years due to the disruptive and positive force of the Internet," said Stephen J. Cannell Productions President, Mike Dubelko. "Innovation is clearly needed, and our partnership with Big Stage is a great way to repurpose our library of programming while helping to foster an entirely new engagement model for personalized entertainment."
Big Stage is ushering in a new era of digital media engagement by making it possible to become a part of the medium itself. The company is collaborating with studios, portals, social networks, advertising agencies and established brands to secure a continuing selection of engaging Big Stage-Enabled (BSE) content and experiences. The company's 3-D capture technology stems from advanced stereo reconstruction technology funded by multiple government grants, including the CIA, as part of a nine-year cumulative research project at the University of Southern California.
"It's exciting to partner with one of the most prolific and successful television executives in Hollywood," said Big Stage President and CEO, Phil Ressler. "Throughout his 30-year career, Stephen J. Cannell has been a true entertainment innovator, with more than 40 television shows to his credit including The Rockford Files, The A-Team, Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street, Hunter, and Silk Stockings. OK, so I'm also a fanOIt is no surprise that he is among the first to embrace Big Stage technology and explore innovative way for fans to engage with entertainment."
