, Inc. announced the commercial release of iSite(TM) 3.0, the medical industry's most advanced image and information management system.

iSite(TM) 3.0 includes enhancements to the company's flagship product A primary product of a company, which is typically why the company was founded and/or what made it well known. For example, MS-DOS, Windows and the Microsoft Office suite have been flagship products of Microsoft. CorelDRAW is a flagship product of Corel Corporation.  iSite(TM) Enterprise image distribution product, and expands to include iSite(TM) Radiology, a softcopy diagnosis workstation, and iVault(TM), an always online medical image archiving system.

"Stentor has been very successful in offering hospitals, clinics and imaging centers an enterprise-wide distribution solution that solves 90 percent of their image distribution challenges," said Oran Muduroglu, president and chief executive officer of Stentor. "More than 80 hospitals and clinics currently use iSite(TM) Enterprise and, with the introduction of iSite(TM) 3.0, Stentor now offers the most advanced medical image and information management system available on the market today."

iSite(TM) 3.0 is based on Stentor's core iSyntax(TM) technology, which enables instantaneous diagnostic quality image distribution anywhere across the enterprise without affecting network speed or image quality.

iSite(TM) Enterprise 3.0 -- Diagnostic quality image distribution enterprise-wide

Version 3.0 expands Stentor's support for imaging modalities to include multi-frame DICOM (medical, standard) DICOM - (From Digital Imaging and COmmunications in Medicine) A standard developed by ACR-NEMA (American College of Radiology - National Electrical Manufacturer's Association) for communications between medical imaging devices.  objects for Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Photon Emission Tomography (PET), and Angiography angiography

. Version 3.0 also includes support for traditional x-ray modalities including Digital Radiography digital radiography Imaging A format for producing x-rays in which film used to produce conventional x-ray images is replaced with more sensitive sensitive electronics; DXRs produce images with12  (DR) and Mammography mammography, diagnostic procedure that uses low-dose X rays to detect abnormalities in the breasts. The early diagnosis of breast cancer made possible by the routine use of mammography for screening women increases a woman's treatment alternatives and improves her , color support for all modalities, teleradiology, multi-monitor support, and Secure Socket Layer encryption (SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data. ). iSite Enterprise 3.0 also features Imaging Suite(TM), the medical industry's leading radiology workflow engine Workflow engine is a software application meant to manage and execute modeled business processes.

It is a key component in workflow technology. It will typically make use of a database server.
, which enables advanced workflow functionality, a complete patient history time-line, referring physician worklists, DICOM Worklists and technologist worklists.

iSite(TM) Radiology 3.0 -- Advanced softcopy radiology reading stations

The iSite(TM) Radiology workstation is uniquely engineered so that current and prior exams are presented within two seconds and a radiologist is never more than one click away from any function, feature, image or clinical information.

Stentor's workstation provides a real-time overview of the entire patient history via a "clinical history timeline." This timeline presents a graphical representation of the patient's clinical history and allows the radiologist to interactively select any study without going back to the worklist.

iSite(TM) Radiology is the first reading station to separate diagnostic presentation and navigation contexts by providing an advanced navigation control console. This separation dedicates the high-end diagnostic monitors solely for image display and interpretation thereby increasing image quality and overall reading efficiency.

iVault(TM) 3.0 -- DICOM based, fault-tolerant, on-line archive

iVault(TM) is an "always online," iSyntax(TM)-based, medical image archiving solution that eliminates the bottlenecks of pre-fetching, routing, forwarding, off-line media management and ad-hoc querying. The system provides a single view of images and information to all users across the enterprise and scales to millions of studies per year with hundreds of concurrent users across numerous institutions.

The long-term storage system is designed to provide 99.999 percent reliability with clustered worklist and database servers, replicated RAID-5 Network Attached Storage Units for critical image data, and load balanced fail-over DICOM servers. This modular architecture provides scalable storage to support the needs of a single stand-alone institution as well as the distributed configuration to fulfill the requirements of fully integrated healthcare delivery networks. iVault(TM) is built with intelligent workflow technology Workflow technology is a new field of software products designed to improve the design of information systems. It involves use of workflow engine to execute models of processes. The models can be edited by persons not experienced in programming (e.g.  powered by Imaging Suite(TM), that provides system-wide worklist and workflow management.

"In contrast to traditional imaging and information solutions, Stentor focuses on solving the enterprise image and information challenges first," said Matt Long, vice president of sales and marketing at Stentor. "This allows for an easy, incremental adoption of iSite(TM) Radiology reading stations and iVault(TM) online image storage as the facility's network expands."
