Summary

The first quarter of 2006 saw significant growth both in terms of the value of transactions and their number. Rising economy and still low labour costs in Poland as compared to the "old Europe" keep encouraging foreign investors to do business in Poland, while good sentiment on the Warsaw bourse bourse (brs), term applied to a European stock exchange. The first international bourse was established in Antwerp in the 16th cent.  helps to drive the activity in public offerings (both IPOs and SPOs). At the same time, the financial condition of Polish companies is getting better and better, while their competitive position on the European markets is improving too, making them good takeover targets for global players.
