Stay Informed About the Rapidly Evolving Broadband Wireless Access Market.

DUBLIN, Ireland -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c44226) has announced the addition of Global BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) High-speed wireless access. Typically refers to wireless last mile access to the Internet. See WiMAX and broadband.  Operators 2007 to their offering.

The broadband wireless See wireless broadband.  access (BWA) market is on the cusp of a giant explosion. The arrival of WiMAX as a global standard for fixed wireless technology is expected to bring the benefits of scale economics to this industry, driving down equipment pricing and fueling widespread deployment.

One popular use of a wallchart is to track progress of sports teams in cup events. , providing coverage of 174 leading broadband wireless operators and 24 equipment vendors around the globe.

Whilst BWA subscriber numbers are still dwarfed by those observed in the cellular and fixed broadband industries, major global BWA operators are now emerging like Clearwire and Earthlink in the US, Woosh in New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. However, it is the developing world which is experiencing significant BWA growth with emerging operators like Sentech in South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa. , Camtel in Cameroon, Entel in Chile and Lintasarta in Indonesia.

In Germany, the BWA market is in hibernation as operators await the auction of 3.4-3.6 GHz spectrum in December, while in the Netherlands, a country with 95% ADSL See DSL.

and cable coverage, there are indications that operators are downgrading or ceasing to offer wireless broadband High-speed wireless transmission of data. What is "high" speed is always a changing number. Wireless systems are typically slower than land-based, wireline networks. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1  services as they struggle to justify the business model.

In China, 95% of the broadband market is based on ADSL, and BWA activity is largely in the hands of incumbents such as China Netcom and China Railcom who are mainly conducting trials in a few provinces with few commercial customers. However, in Russia more than 250 BWA operators are rapidly deploying and extending their services into new territories, with Enforta and Synterra appearing to be the current frontrunners.

The equipment vendor landscape has also altered compared with just over a year ago: new vendors have made their entry with contract wins or have increased their market share, such as Dragonwave, Stratex Networks, Bridgewave Communications, Ceragon networks and Kyocera. However, Alvarion's remains the dominant supplier with 14% of operators reporting networks based on this vendor's equipment.

BWA Spectrum usage is more consolidated with 45% of global operators deploying services in the unlicensed 5-5.8GHz and 2.4GHz ranges, with a further 27% using frequencies sitting in the 3.3-3.9GHz range.

We have captured this level of BWA activity with its new Global BWA Operators 2007 Wallchart. The A1 size map is a powerful and visual tool for extracting, as well as tracking BWA metrics across the global broadband wireless industry. For analysts, researchers and marketing professionals, the data is available electronically, ready to port into models, pitches and presentations.
