Statement by Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino: President Bush to Attend Group of Eight (G-8) Summit in Germany and Travel to the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Albania, and Bulgaria.NEW YORK New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of -- President and Mrs. Bush will travel to Heiligendamm, Germany to attend the G-8 Summit on June 6-8, 2007. The leaders of Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United Kingdom will participate in the Summit along with the German host, Chancellor Merkel. The European Union European Union (EU), name given since the ratification (Nov., 1993) of the Treaty of European Union, or Maastricht Treaty, to the European Community will also participate. The leaders will discuss continued cooperation on a broad range of international economic, security, and political issues. Prior to the Summit, the President will visit Prague, Czech Republic Czech Republic, Czech Česká Republika (2005 est. pop. 10,241,000), republic, 29,677 sq mi (78,864 sq km), central Europe. It is bordered by Slovakia on the east, Austria on the south, Germany on the west, and Poland on the north. on June 5 for meetings with President Klaus and Prime Minister Topolanek. While in Prague, the President will speak at an international conference, "Democracy and Security: Core Values and Sound Policies." Following the G-8, the President will travel to Jurata, Poland on June 8 for a meeting with President Lech Lech (lĕkh), river, c.175 mi (280 km) long, rising in Vorarlberg, W Austria, and flowing NE into S Germany past Augsburg to the Danube River.
