State of North Carolina Extends Data Access to 70,000 Employees Using Document Management Tools From Systemware Inc.

Today, the State of North Carolina announced the selection of Systemware Inc. to provide the state's document and output management software infrastructure. Systemware's X/PTR(R), X/TND(R) and X/NET(TM) document management tools will assist state and local branches with electronic information delivery to over 70,000 state employees and suppliers.

"Our decision to go with Systemware was largely based on the user feedback we gained after several months of testing," said Jerry Kingrey, director of computing services for Information Technology Services (ITS) in Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. "Users unequivocally chose Systemware in terms of ease of use and functionality." Kingrey said Systemware's output management tools provide a seamless interface to mainframe data. Utilizing the global indexing and query capabilities, dynamic data conversion tools provide users access to new and legacy data.

State employees in North Carolina's Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Transportation, Office of State Comptroller, Department of Corrections and the Employment Security Commission will use Systemware technology to access key information through Systemware's X/PTR, X/TND and X/NET products for report management and distribution among state departments and suppliers.

The state is immediately implementing Systemware's X/PTR v. 3.8, a mainframe, OS/390-based application that enables robust document indexing capabilities, viewing and printing. "The dynamic data conversion alone has saved us months of development work," said Kingrey. "X/PTR requires no manual intervention and automatically converts a document when it is requested by a user. --   X/NET v. 3.8, which provides users immediate Internet access to
     legacy reports in addition to complex print streams. X/NET is the
     "thin client" of X/PTR, allowing users browser-based access to
     retrieve and distribute data and reports via the Internet or
     intranet.

--   X/TND v. 2.2, the PC component of X/PTR, enables a user in a
     multi-window environment to concurrently access documents and
     reports residing on a mainframe, LAN or PC. X/TND, a Windows(TM)
     client, also provides a graphical-user interface with workflow
     reformatting, query construction and data exportation to other
     common Windows applications. Virtual File Cabinets allow users to
     organize documents into work-flow scenarios which may be private
     or shared by various users.
