) team is piloting Lawson's Services Automation software as a way to improve management of approximately 20 software development projects, Lawson Software (Lawson Software, St. Paul, MN, www.lawson.com) A software company that specializes in ERP for vertical markets including health care, retail, public sector, professional and financial services.  (Nasdaq:LWSN) announced today at the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO) 2002 Conference in St. Louis.

Consistent with the company's vertical market strategy, Lawson is focused on using Services Automation to meet the particular needs of each of its target verticals. The State of Michigan, which currently uses Lawson's Human Resources suite, is one of Lawson's largest public sector customers. The Services Automation pilot involves about 100 users on the HRMN team.

Richard Huneke, HRMN project director for the State of Michigan, said he was interested in Lawson's Services Automation software as a way to improve project reporting and management. "Lawson's software works really well with our project planning project planning - project management  and documentation tools," he said. "Also, the Services Automation solution can help us keep track of multiple projects involving teams that cross state departments and agencies, all from a single point of access."

It automates, organizes and manages projects, resources, utilization, time and costs. The latest version announced this fall includes a new portfolio management application, an intuitive analysis tool that helps decision-makers scrutinize investments and optimize and balance portfolios.
