State affiliates recognized. (Association News).Two state MTAs recently were recognized for their years of affiliation with MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) . Alabama Music Teachers Association (AMTA AMTA American Music Therapy Association. AMTA, n See American Music Therapy Association. ) was honored for its fiftieth anniversary as an MTNA affiliate. AMTA affiliated with MTNA in 1953, with Esther Rennick serving as the organization's first president. There were fifty-one charter members. Homer Ulrich, author of The Centennial History of the Music Teachers National Association, early in 1928, a group of seven music teachers met in Tucson to form an organization for those in their profession. Within a month, they had contacted nearly 100 other music teachers, and the Arizona Music Teachers Association was formed. Affiliation with MTNA soon followed. Each year, the national association recognizes state MTAs that achieve fifty, seventy-five and 100 years of affiliation with MTNA. |
