State Information Officers Council Awards 2004 Scholarship, Elects Officers for 2005.SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California's State Information Officers Council (SiOC) awarded a $1,000 scholarship today to Laura Bookman of Stockton. This is the nonprofit professional organization's fifth scholarship award since the establishment of the SiOC scholarship endowment at California State University Enrollment Bookman is a junior majoring in Organizational Communication Organizational communication, broadly speaking, is: people working together to achieve individual or collective goals. Bookman is also active in Sacramento County's Alzheimer's Association The Alzheimer's Association, incorportated on April 10, 1980 as the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Inc., is a non-profit American voluntary health organization which focuses on care, support and research for Alzheimer's disease. on a project called "Memories in the Making" where she facilitates art activities at local residences for people suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. The SiOC endowment is approximately $10,000, and generates enough for one annual scholarship. Each year the SiOC board contributes to the endowment, aiming to increase its base to $20,000 which would allow SiOC to have two annual scholarships. SiOC also installed its new officers for 2005, today. It is the largest such agency in the United States, and enforces state anti-discrimination laws which pertain to housing, employment, public -- Secretary; Stephen Green of the Lieutenant Governor's Office will continue to chair the Scholarship Committee, Dimitri Stanich of the Air Resources Board is the new Program Chair, and the awards committee will be led by Liz Kanter of the State Water Resources Control Board, Dana Michaels of the Department of Fish and Game and Adrian Woodfork of the Department of Food & Agriculture.
