(NYSE:AQM) today announced the new QMS 2060 Print System series, a family of five versatile 20 page-per-minute (ppm) monochrome printers for small and medium size workgroups. Designed to meet the needs of multiple application environments, including business workgroups, graphic arts and pre-press, document imaging, and Windows 95 and NT, the QMS 2060 printers offer both high-performance network printing and large format, edge-to-edge printing capabilities up to 1200 dpi.

Available in five configurations -- the QMS 2060 WX, QMS 2060 BX, QMS 2060 GX, QMS 2060 EX, and the QMS 2060 ImageServer -- each meets the needs of specific workgroup applications and printing requirements.

QMS 2060 WX Laser Printer

Designed exclusively for Windows 95 and NT applications, the QMS 2060 WX is the company's second high performance Windows print system. Utilizing the power of the Windows operating system and the desktop PC, the QMS 2060 WX offers Windows 95 and Windows NT workgroup users high-performance monochrome printing, at a significantly lower price point.

"The QMS 2060 WX extends the Windows printing capabilities first offered in our color laser print system to a higher speed, flexible monochrome print system."

With an engine speed of 20 pages per minute, the QMS 2060 WX handles mid-volume workgroup printing easily. For versatility in page design, the QMS 2060 WX Laser Printer supports 600 x 600 dpi printing on page sizes up to 13" x 19", which is ideal for business applications such as spreadsheets where larger paper sizes are required. A parallel interface for `plug and play' compatibility, and an Ethernet interface supporting TCP/IP, ftp, and telnet, enable the printer to be shared among workgroups. If future printing demands require additional network connectivity, higher print resolutions, and advanced document processing features, the QMS 2060 WX is completely upgradable to include all the networking capabilities and printing solutions of QMS 2060 Crown systems.

QMS 2060 Crown Print Systems

Based on a 64-bit, 100 MHz processor and QMS Crown controller technology, the QMS 2060 processes and prints complex jobs quickly and efficiently. In addition, the QMS 2060 Print System offers users flexibility in output by offering 1200 x 1200 dpi printing capabilities and broad paper size support -- from sizes as small as a postcard to a large 13" x 19" page. Edge-to-edge printing, which allows for complete page coverage with no minimum margins, is available on ledger, A3, 12" x 19" and 13" x 19" page sizes.

The QMS 2060 BX, with a higher letter input capacity, is designed for the general business environment. For the graphic arts industry, the QMS 2060 GX offers large paper format support, edge-to-edge printing, and additional system memory to support graphic intense files. The QMS 2060 EX Print System offers users in pre-press or high end desktop publishing high quality output with its standard 1200 dpi resolution, edge-to-edge printing capabilities, and varied print media support.

For direct network connectivity, the QMS 2060 is equipped with a CrownNet for Ethernet interface, which simultaneously supports NetWare IPX/SPX; TCP/IP; EtherTalk; OS/2 LAN Manager/LAN Server NetBIOS/NetBEUI; and Windows 3.1x, NT, and 95 NetBIOS/NetBEUI protocols.

QMS 2060 ImageServer Print System

Also based on QMS Crown multitasking controller architecture, the QMS 2060 ImageServer Print System provides image-enabled network printing for document imaging and client/server environments. The QMS 2060 ImageServer Print System is able to decompress image files on the printer, generating output near rated engine speed. The QMS 2060 ImageServer Print System can process most popular image file formats, including bi-level CCITT Group 3 and 4 compressed TIFF and CALS Raster; PostScript Level 2/CCITT; and QMS high-performance CCITT Group 3 and Group 4 emulations.

Ranging in price from $1,999 to $5,999, QMS 2060 Print Systems are offered through QMS' network of distribution partners. The QMS CrownCopy copier option, also offered through QMS' distribution partners, is available to QMS 2060 customers for $1,999; the duplex option is $499.00.
