Stars of the White Nights. (Summer Calendar of Performances).

There are two reasons to celebrate at the 11th International Festival "Stars of the White Nights" this year: the 300th anniversary of the festivals host city, St. Petersburg, Russia, and the wealth of international ballet performances, held May 5-August 5. Themed programs at this year's festival, led by Artistic Director Valery Gergiev, include "Ballets by Shostakovich," "An Evening of Prokofiev," "Historic Ballets," and "Stravinsky Ballets." The Kirov Ballet, London's Royal Ballet, and the Central Ballet of China are slated to perform, although the roster is subject to change.
