Starbucks Centerstage Serves Music, Mocha and Moods; New Program Blends Local Musicians With Coffeehouse Experience.

Southern Californians can savor the sounds, sip Sumatra and sing along at Starbucks Centerstage, Starbucks' new music program featuring local emerging artists performing coffeehouse music at Starbucks locations throughout Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, .

Beginning in November, Starbucks Centerstage, along with partners Music Connection Magazine and KCRW KCRW Kansas City Roller Warriors (women's roller derby league; Kansas City, Missouri) , will showcase the talents of southland south·land or South·land

Enhancing the tone of the evening, Starbucks is dimming the lights and burning candles setting the stage for a relaxing evening with friends while listening to music and sipping your favorite coffee drink.

To satisfy the evening sweet tooth, Starbucks is serving an expanded dessert menu, including coffeecake, Frappuccino mocha Mocha (mō`kə), town (1990 est. pop. 2,000), S Yemen, a port on the Red Sea. Apple cider is the name used especially in the United States and parts of Canada for a non-alcoholic beverage produced from apples by a process of pressing.

"Starbucks is the ideal environment for our customers to relax and enjoy an evening of great coffee and music," said Kimberly Gerber, Starbucks marketing manager. "Music is all around us -- in our cars, at the gym and at work. But Starbucks Centerstage music program brings background music to the foreground, allowing not only our customers to experience the emotion and excitement of live music performances, but also a venue for artists to perform and get exposure."

Coffeehouse-style musicians -- including blues, acoustic guitar, folk, jazz, Latin and more -- interested in receiving more information about the program should call 310/967-2945 for details. A sample CD or cassette is required.

To help bring the Centerstage program to life, Starbucks formed partnerships with top local music authorities including Music Connection magazine. As the leading publication for local musicians, Music Connection will offer subscriptions to selected program participants, while advertisements will run to encourage musicians to send audition CDs and tapes for consideration.

In addition, Starbucks has partnered with National Public Radio's Southern California flagship station In broadcasting, a flagship station is the station which originates a broadcast network, or a particular radio show or TV show, primarily in the United States and Canada. This includes both direct network feeds and syndication, but generally not backhauls.  KCRW 89.9 FM. KCRW is planning to showcase a performance with musicians from its extraordinary compilation Morning Becomes Eclectic Morning Becomes Eclectic is an influential, three-hour triple-A radio program broadcast live every weekday from KCRW in Santa Monica, California. Nic Harcourt has hosted the program since 1998; previously it was hosted by Chris Douridas and Tom Schnabel.  CD that is currently available in Southern California Starbucks stores and will feature live broadcasts from Starbucks stores.

During the third week of December, Starbucks will host community night, allowing local musicians, college students and others from the area to demonstrate their talents. In affiliation with Music Connection, an open mike night will be featured.
