Artificial substitute for a missing part of the body, usually an arm or leg.
in the United States. Safe and secure fixation of the CliP Piston on the long process of the incus incus /in·cus/ (ing´kus) [L.] the middle of the three ossicles of the ear, which, with the stapes and malleus, serves to conduct vibrations from the tympanic membrane to the inner ear. Called also anvil.  is accomplished without crimping, which makes it an ingenious solution for stapedioplasty.

The piston body is positioned in the usual manner. Then the CliP Piston is simply clicked onto the process for secure coupling. The CliP does not encircle the incus. Once in place, it makes contact with approximately 60% of the incudal process circumference. This reduces the risk of necrosis and improves vascular supply of the incus and lenticular lenticular /len·tic·u·lar/ (len-tik´u-ler)

 process.

Postoperative prosthesis stability is provided by the unique tensile quality of titanium and by the universal CliP design. It is impossible to attach the clip too loosely. It is self-retaining, which improves transmission quality and minimizes the remaining risk of interrupted sound conduction.
