Stanford Telecom to OEM Gensym software for NetCoach, a new ATM network management product.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1996--Gensym Corp. (NASDAQ: GNSM), a leading provider of software products and services for creating intelligent systems, today announced that they have signed an OEM agreement with Stanford Telecommunications, Inc. (NASDAQ: STII) that allows Stanford Telecom to use Gensym's flagship G2 software and other Gensym products to develop and deploy NetCoach, Stanford Telecom's network management product for heterogeneous Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks.

"We've used Gensym's G2 software to build the inference engine and expert management capabilities, which will be key parts of NetCoach," said Wayne Fuller, Stanford Telecom's director of network management. "In addition, we are excited to be able to add the intelligent fault and performance management capabilities of Gensym's new Fault Expert. With Fault Expert, we can better address the quality of service issues and large volumes of message traffic that are inherent in ATM networks."

NetCoach will provide unique knowledge-based applications for fault and performance management, as well as planning and simulation capabilities for heterogeneous ATM networks. With its ability to support multiple vendor products, NetCoach is being designed to simplify the entire process of ATM network management and provide the flexibility to construct an ATM infrastructure with best of breed products. By anticipating future configuration and service requirements, NetCoach will also support proactive management of ATM networks. Stanford Telecom plans to make NetCoach generally available by the summer of 1997.
