I am currently employed at South City Medical Centre as a practice nurse and T work in the emergency department (ED) at Tauranga Hospital.

Work experience

Over the last 12 years I have worked mainly in PHC as a practice nurse. I am an accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

 practice nurse with expert endorsement. I have been involved locally and nationally on a variety of committees for practice nursing and PHC. As well as this work, I am an ED senior nurse, maintaining the required certificates and competencies.

Suitability for this position

I have a broad view of nursing, from clinical, political, managerial and leadership perspectives. I am one of the college/section representatives on the NZNO board of directors, having completed nearly two years. This position involves liaising with a wide range of specialities within nursing and has taken time to build relationships with the colleges/sections. I have enjoyed being able to be their voice at board level and I would like the opportunity to build on what I have already started for another two years. I would like to continue to be part of increasing the profile of colleges/sections within NZNO.

* Previous member of the NZNO PHC advisory group 2003/04 (now the NZNO PHC Council).

JUSTIN ROPEHANA MOORE, NOMINATED BY THE COLLEGE OF EMERGENCY NURSES

Statement of nomination

Justin has been an active member of the College of Emergency Nurses for the last two years and has contributed hugely to the college's development. Justin is well informed about the issues facing colleges and sections and would be an effective representative.

From the nominee

I am currently employed at Christchurch Hospital's emergency department (ED).

Work experience

I began my nursing training at Christchurch Polytechnic in 1989. Upon graduation I started work at Templeton Hospital's children's unit. I then moved to Christchurch Hospital and worked in paediatrics for seven years. I am currently a clinical nurse co-ordinator in ED where I have been for four years.

I have been an active member of NZNA/NZNO since 1989 when a student nurse. I was a student representative on the National Student Unit and was elected chairperson. I have been a member of the Christchurch Hospital workplace committee for the past 10 years. I have been a member of the Cortege of Emergency Nurses for four years and am currently its treasurer.

LORRAINE BORTHWICK, NOMINATED BY THE NATIONAL ENROLLED NURSES' SECTION (NZNO)

Statement of nomination

Lorraine has been the college/section representative to the board of directors for the past two years. During this time, she has built improved communication systems between the colleges/ sections and the board. We believe Lorraine has the knowledge, expertise and experience to continue developing this position.

From the nominee

I am employed at Gore Hospital. I am an enrolled nurse (EN) working in a community trust hospital with 16 medical and rehabilitation beds, accident and emergency unit, one high dependency unit and several outpatient clinics.

Qualifications

I trained in 1970-71 and have worked at Gore Hospital ever since. I have attended many courses, education sessions and conferences.

Suitability for this position

I will have completed one term as college/section representative to the board and have been developing improved communication systems between colleges/sections and the board. I see the need for further development in several areas.

Previous experience

I am a workplace delegate, an office holder for regional and national EN sections, including serving as national secretary, and have been a member of the Nursing and Midwifery midwifery (mĭd`wī'fərē), art of assisting at childbirth. The term midwife for centuries referred to a woman who was an overseer during the process of delivery. In ancient Greece and Rome, these women had some formal training.  Advisory Committee.
