Standard Process to Provide Funding Through 2010

PALMYRA, Wis. -- Standard Process Inc.([R]) has announced it will continue its sponsorship of the George J. Goodheart Scholarship at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri through the year 2010.

The Goodheart Scholarship, a project of the International College of Applied Kinesiology([R]) - U.S.A. (ICAK-U.S.A.), provides a $2,500 scholarship and an all expenses paid trip to visit the Standard Process certified-organic farm and manufacturing facility in Palmyra, Wisconsin to a chiropractic student attending Logan College.

Applicants for the scholarship must be a 7th trimester student or above, be an active member of Logan's AK Club, and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Applicants will be required to submit an essay of 500 words (minimum) describing applicable work experience, academic strengths, career objectives, reasons for applying, experience or future interest with nutrition and experience with AK including future plans for research. Additionally, an endorsement from either the AK Club, ICAK Teaching Diplomate, AK chiropractic college instructor or an AK club faculty advisor will be required. Applications will be reviewed by the ICAK-U.S.A. Research Committee members and Standard Process representatives.

Joseph Wardie, an 8th trimester student at Logan College, was awarded the first $2,500 George Goodheart Scholarship in Applied Kinesiology funded by Standard Process on February 1, 2006.

About the George J. Goodheart Scholarship

The scholarship is named for Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor who during the 1960s developed "applied kinesiology" (AK) -- a new system that introduced muscle testing to chiropractic evaluations. Since Dr. Goodheart's discovery that assessment of normal and abnormal body function could be accomplished by using muscle tests, applied kinesiology has been applied to over 30 different therapeutic systems to evaluate the most effective therapy for individual patients. Dr. Goodheart currently is the ICAK-U.S.A. Research Director. He was the first chiropractor to be officially appointed to the Sports Medicine Modalities Committee of the US Olympic Committee and served at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics.
