CVC offers business and share valuations services that are used by clients to deal with a broad range of issues such as to independently support acquisitions or divestments, assist in resolving disputes, assist in the determination of various strategic decisions, or support inter-company transactions for taxation purposes.

S&P president Kathleen Corbet said the sale of CVC will enable her company to "focus on its core business of providing independent research, ratings, data, indices and portfolio services." CVC was purchased by McGraw-Hill from PricewaterhouseCoopers (New York) in late 2001.
