The spotlight will shine on Los Angeles in August when delegates and more than 15,000 media arrive for the Democratic National Convention. This is our opportunity to show the world we have bounced back from recent events that have drawn negative media attention.

But it can't be done without your help.

The L.A. Convention 2000 Host Committee needs thousands of volunteers to assist with everything from making telephone calls to greeting visitors, says volunteer coordinator Rachel Gerken. While the Convention dates are August 14-17, help is needed right away.

"Whenever you are available and whatever you can contribute we will pretty much take on," Gerken says.

No minimum time commitment is required. Some volunteers may need to attend a training session or obtain security clearance. A volunteer registration form and information can be obtained by calling [phone].
