Rod Lebbert is appointed Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
. Mr. Lebbert has 16 years experience in the Canadian Oil & Gas Sector and has held senior management positions with Stampeder for the past two years, most recently serving as Vice-President, Oil & Gas Operations. Prior to joining Stampeder in 1994, Mr. Lebbert spent 13 years with Shell Canada Limited. He is a professional engineer and graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Pat Carlson is appointed Vice-President, Production. Mr. Carlson has 22 years of oil & gas experience and served for the past year as Stampeder's Manager of Engineering. Prior to joining Stampeder, Mr. Carlson was the Development Group Leader of the heavy oil business unit at Husky Oil Operations Ltd. He is a professional engineer and has a B.Sc. from the University of Calgary.

The appointments follow Peter Williams' resignation as Chief Operating Officer and a director of Stampeder effective May 26, 1997. Mr. Williams, who has been the Chief Operating Officer for the past 4 years, has made a personal decision to take a leave from the oil & gas business for the time being. Mr. Williams was quoted "I am very proud of Stampeder's growth, its people and its values. Stampeder is in an excellent position to capitalize on these foundations. As Stampeder continues its shift from acquisitions to growth through the drill bit, I am very confident that Mr. Lebbert and Mr. Carlson's extensive experience with operations will serve the shareholders and staff of Stampeder very well."
