Stamford owners, managers collect blood for Red Cross.

The American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  collected 245 productive pints of blood as a result of the 2007 Stamford Property Manager and Landlord Blood Drive Challenge which ran throughout the summer. The Challenge, which was spearheaded by George Comfort & Sons' High Ridge Park Corporate Center, more than tripled the amount of blood raised by 2006 Stamford Property drives.

"Since each unit collected can save up to three lives, the Stamford Property Managers and their tenants may have helped to save as many as 735 Connecticut hospital patients," said Joan Bennett, Account Executive, American Red Cross Blood Services Connecticut Region. "Because of this summer's severe blood shortage, these results could not have come at a better time."

Mayor Dannel P. Malloy, representing the Stamford Government Center participated in the challenge along with representatives from various local firms including George Comfort & Sons; Ashforth; RFR RFR Radio Frequency Radiation

"With this challenge, we were able to contribute to the welfare of the community while enjoying a fun and friendly competition," said Jodi Gutierrez, Vice-President of Property Management, George Comfort & Sons. "We are very proud of the success of the blood drive and look forward to making the challenge an annual event."

The Challenge seeks to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for blood in Connecticut. The approximately 650 pints of blood used daily by Connecticut residents are vital in the treatment of a vast range of patients, specifically trauma victims, heart surgery patients, patients receiving organ transplants organ transplant: see transplantation, medical. , women with childbirth childbirth: see birth.
