316L alloy milled to a uniform particle size Particle size, also called grain size, refers to the diameter of individual grains of sediment, or the lithified particles in clastic rocks. The term may also be applied to other granular materials. , are used in water- and solvent-based protective coatings for interior and exterior metal substrates. They are designed to resist UV degradation and corrosive environments. They reportedly contribute to the durability of polyurethanes, epoxy, and acrylic coating formulations for application uses including chemical and food processing equipment, tank car linings, bridges, and electrical transmission towers. The flake pigments' overlapping platelet orientation of the flakes resists deterioration from staining, oxidation, and chemical attack.
