The Epic(TM) Plus family, the first ICDs to incorporate our clinically proven AF Suppression(TM) technology, was launched in the second quarter and has been well received by clinicians. During the fourth quarter, we expect to introduce the Atlas(R) Plus ICD product family, the industry's most powerful ICD that also incorporates AF Suppression(TM), and our next generation Riata(TM) defibrillation Defibrillation Definition Defibrillation is a process in which an electronic device sends an electric shock to the heart to stop an extremely rapid, irregular heartbeat, and restore the normal heart rhythm. lead family, the latest iteration to our most advanced ICD lead. During the third quarter St. Jude Medical announced the initiation and first patient enrollment in the ASSIST (Atrial Tachycardia Suppression Strategy in ICD Subjects Trial) clinical study. The purpose of the ASSIST study is to evaluate if atrial fibrillation (AF) suppression pacing in dual-chamber ICD patients will reduce atrial arrhythmia burden and the frequency of inappropriate VT/VF therapy in patients with a history of paroxysmal paroxysmal (per´ adj recurring in paroxysms. atrial fibrillation. Shepherd continued, "We've observed that the use of ICDs with cardiac resynchronization (CRT (1) (C RunTime) See runtime library. The viewing end of the tube is coated with phosphors, which emit light when struck by electrons. ) capability has grown dramatically, and we look forward to entering this market segment in the first half of next year.
