Significant Network Enhancements Made Throughout Texas as Part of a $7 Billion Wireless and Wireline Investment Nationwide

:S) today announced improvements to both the Nationwide Sprint PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995. This radio spectrum in the 1.  Network and Nextel National Network(SM) in the Austin area with an investment of nearly $13 million through the third quarter of 2006. These extensive upgrades are the result of adding additional wireless cell sites and equipment to the networks, delivering expanded coverage and network capacity to better serve customers in Central Texas.

In the state of Texas, Sprint has invested more than $90 million, including nearly $13 million in Central Texas, in its wireless networks this year.

The following is a detailed list of the Central Texas areas benefiting by these enhancements to the Sprint PCS Network:

* Improvement in coverage on Hwy. 1431 between Hwy. 183 & Jonestown

The following is a detailed list of the local areas benefiting by these enhancements to the Nextel National Network(SM):

* Pflugerville by the SH 130 toll road and FM 685

Sprint Expands the Sprint Power Vision Network

Sprint offers the most wireless broadband High-speed wireless transmission of data. What is "high" speed is always a changing number. Wireless systems are typically slower than land-based, wireline networks. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1  coverage of any carrier through its Power Vision(SM) Network (EV-DO (EVolution-Data Only) A 3G high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers worldwide that use the CDMA technology, including Verizon and Sprint in the U.S. EV-DO works on EV-DO cellphones as well as laptops and portable devices that have EV-DO modems. ), which reaches more than 170 million people nationwide, covering over 219 communities with at least a 100,000 population as well as 486 airports nationwide. The Power Vision network allows users to access audio, video and data applications with handheld and connection card devices.

Sprint is the only carrier to begin rolling out an EV-DO Revision A network and expects to cover 21 markets where more than 40 million people live and work by the end of 2006 and upgrade its entire Power Vision Network to the faster EV-DO Revision A technology by Q3 2007. The faster data rates provided by EV-DO Revision A can enable richer applications and services, such as high-speed video telephony See videophone. , music on demand, video messaging, large file uploads and high performance push-to-talk capability.

Power Network Coverage Tool Provides Unique View

In October, Sprint launched its Power Network Coverage Tool to help customers view detailed coverage maps down to the street address level. By entering an address or zip code zip code

, customers can see the availability of wireless coverage and the network signal strength on the Nextel National Network(SM), Nationwide Sprint PCS Network or Sprint Power Vision Network. Customers can also view the location of recently added cell sites in many areas. The tool, available at www.sprint.com/coverage and at self-service touch-screen kiosks at hundreds of Sprint Nextel retail stores, is simple to use and helps set network coverage expectations for customers before signing up for wireless service.
