Sprint Consolidates International Long Distance Into One Unit to Enhance Speed-To-Market for Business and Consumer Customers.

(inc. 1850). , Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 1999--Sprint today announced an expansion of Long Distance International, a unit of the Long Distance Division, to establish a unified focus in its international markets.

The Long Distance Division will consolidate the core segments of its international groups dedicated to marketing, product management and network services for business and consumer markets into Long Distance International, the unit that already has responsibility for international alliances and carrier services.

Lauren Wright, vice president and general manager of Long Distance International, will oversee the expanded unit, formed by the consolidation of the international organizations currently residing in Sprint Business, Consumer Services Consumer Services refers to the formulation, deformulation, technical consulting and testing of most consumer products, such as food, herbs, beverages, vitamins, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, hair products, household cleaners, [paints, plastics, metals, waxes, coatings, minerals,  Group, Wholesale Services Group and Technology Services.

Wright, age 45, reports to Patti Manuel and will be responsible for integrating the international marketing, product management and network services functions, in addition to her current responsibility for Global One and other international alliances. Products will continue to be sold and supported through the consumer and business market groups.

Ms. Wright joined Sprint in 1988 after a ten-year career in health care financial management and consulting. Throughout her career at Sprint she has had a variety of assignments in treasury, finance, and product management. In her present role, Ms. Wright was instrumental in the final negotiations and establishment of Global One, a joint venture between Sprint, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom.
