To subject to great heat, especially to make luminous by heat. in a wastebasket between the desk and bed in each of the two fully-furnished dormitory rooms. In the sprinklered room, the fire grew until sprinider activation activation /ac·ti·va·tion/ (ak?ti-va´shun) 1. the act or process of rendering active. 2. the transformation of a proenzyme into an active enzyme by the action of a kinase or another enzyme. 3. which occurred in less than 2 minutes. For the unsprinklered room, the fire continued to grow until it flashed-over the room in less than 5 1/2 minutes.
