Springer (New York) has signed cooperation agreements with two scientific publishers in China, Science Press, the publishing arm of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Higher Education Press, the publishing operations of the Chinese Education Ministry.

Springer (New York) has signed cooperation agreements with two scientific publishers in China, Science Press, the publishing arm of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Higher Education Press, the publishing operations of the Chinese Education Ministry. According to the agreements, Springer will start producing 36 journals jointly with its Chinese partners and provide online access beginning in 2006. Springer and Higher Education Press will launch 27 journals over the next two years while Springer will also publish nine English-language journals of Science Press. In related news, Springer will begin the publication of English translations of journals produced by the Russian Academy of Sciences also beginning in 2006. The journals will be compiled into an online library within SpringerLink under the name "Russian Library of Science." The journals include "Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics," " Physics of the Solid State" and "Doklady Mathematics." Initially, Springer will publish approximately 50 new journals with further expansion anticipated.
