Spring Tide Networks Earns NEBS Level 3 Certification for IP Service Switch; Scalable Service Intelligence Switch First in Its Class to Receive Third Party Validation.
MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2000
Spring Tide Networks Inc. today announced its IP Service Switch 5000 has passed the rigorous Level 3 requirements of the Network Equipment Building Systems specification known as NEBS. The testing certifies the IP Service Switch 5000 is ready for deployment into any service providers' network.
NEBS Level 3 certification represents the highest attainable ranking within Bellcore/Telcordia's strict compliance guidelines. These guidelines form the standards by which networking and telecommunications equipment is judged ready for installation in facilities such as data centers and service providers' central office locations. NEBS certification verifies that the Spring Tide IP Service Switch 5000 is optically, electrically and physically compatible with new and existing network environments, and can operate as intended under electrical and physical stresses without posing a threat to services or personnel. NEBS testing also ensures that Spring Tide's equipment meets industry standards for high and low temperature thresholds, fire resistance, earthquake and office vibrations, transportation and handling, acoustic noise and illumination, electrical protection and grounding. NTS of Boxborough, Mass. and Curtis Straus LLC of Littleton, Mass. performed the testing and certification.
"NEBS certification is a mark of excellence that our customers look for when evaluating network equipment for safe and reliable operation in their telecommunication networks," said Steve Akers, founder and chief technical officer for Spring Tide Networks. "While other vendors claim NEBS compliance, service providers understand that there is an important difference between compliance and certification. Compliance is a design goal, while certification is a third party validation that the equipment adheres to the strict guidelines set by Telcordia."
