Spreckels Industries announces management changes.

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1995--Bart A. Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Spreckels Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: SPKL) Monday announced that the company has begun a search for a new chief executive officer with a strong industrial manufacturing background.

Brown, 62, will remain as the interim chief executive officer of Spreckels until a replacement is found and as chairman of the board of Spreckels thereafter.

The company also announced that David E. Dennehy, president of the Spreckels Sugar Company Inc. subsidiary, has resigned to pursue other opportunities. The board has created an Office of the President, under the direction of Robert J. McLaughlin, 62, to manage Spreckels Sugar and develop a long-term strategy. McLaughlin is currently a principal with The Sutter Group, a firm that specializes in the management of distressed companies. Also included in the Office of the President are John Kolberg, vice president of operations; John Bowman, vice president of finance; and John Hamilton, vice president of agriculture, for Spreckels Sugar.

Spreckels Industries Inc. operates in two principal businesses. The industrial products segment is a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of manual and powered hoists, actuators, scissor-lifts and other material handling equipment under a variety of brand names, including Yale, Coffing, American Lifts, and Duff-Norton. Spreckels Sugar Co. is a processor and marketer of refined sugar products in the western United States.
