Chief among DSLD's new features is Chemistry Services, a powerful framework to help life science companies drive faster, more efficient drug discovery through unprecedented flexibility for working with the disparate technologies and data sources that chemists use during analysis.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the company has activities in more than 80 countries, and employs approximately 62,000 people.  and creates, manufactures and markets prescription medicines.

"Spotfire analytics go beyond traditional business intelligence by empowering our people to act on data, not simply be informed," said Johna Rijss, system operation manager at Organon. "Because DecisionSite 8.2 now integrates with any chemistry cartridge data source, our chemists have unprecedented analytical and decision making power when it comes to drug research and discovery."

"Cheminformatics and Research IT organizations require openness and flexibility from software vendors to enable them to build and deploy applications that fit within their architectures and support their end-users," said Christian Marcazzo, senior director of life sciences marketing for Spotfire. "Chemistry Services opens up DecisionSite for Lead Discovery to enable that integration and customization. "We are very pleased that Spotfire has joined our growing Isentris Alliance program," said Lars Barfod, President and Chief Executive Officer of Elsevier MDL. Right out-of-the-box, DecisionSite for Lead Discovery 8.2's Chemistry Services enables life sciences companies to integrate their preferred chemistry components into DecisionSite's environment for interacting with information. Specific features include:

--Isentris Support - DecisionSite for Lead Discovery 8.2 continues its long term support of Elsevier MDL's ISIS line of products, and adds access to the MDL Direct Data cartridge for chemical data access, display and editing.

--Data Source Integration -- Chemistry Services also can be configured con·fig·ure
