Sport Blogs and your athletic program.


The use of Blogs or personal Web page journals has developed over the past five years into a flourishing athletic activity with enthusiasts everywhere anxious to keep a record of their activities and to exchange thoughts and ideas with fellow cyber-space readers.

Like any other venture, some Blogs are very well-written and informative, while others border on censorship censorship, official prohibition or restriction of any type of expression believed to threaten the political, social, or moral order. It may be imposed by governmental authority, local or national, by a religious body, or occasionally by a powerful private group. .

A Blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary / guide site, although there are as many unique types of Blogs as there are people.

People maintained Blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated au·to·mate

The individual(s) may purchase a domain name and use a computer program such as Microsoft FrontPage Microsoft FrontPage (later full name Microsoft Office FrontPage) was a WYSIWYG HTML editor and web site administration tool from Microsoft for the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems. It was part of Microsoft Office application suite from 1997 to 2003.  in order to make necessary updates. The more informative Blogs are updated regularly and offer links in which to interact with readers (forums). Some are quite extensive, complete with advertising and Web links to other subjects of interest. In addition, many Sports Blogs charge subscription fees.

As an Athletic Administrator you should complete a Web search to see what may be written about your school. Created in the correct fashion, they could serve as a useful forum containing team schedules, statistics, scouting scouting: see Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts.

You can search or browse Web logs, or Blogs, at several sites such as Feedster (feedster.com), Bloglines (bloglines.com) and Technorati (technorati.com).

Should false, misleading, malicious, etc. information be contained in a Blog it is comforting to know that individuals producing those materials could be prosecuted. As an athletic employee be sure to check school policy before attempting to create your own personal Sports Blog.

Should you choose to create a Blog for your athletic program, it would be prudent to visit on-line sites that serve as a Blog hosting service See blog. . These services promote your Blog and locate it when the Web surfers complete a search for a particular institution.

Used in the correct fashion, your Sports Blog can be entertaining and also serve as an avenue to promote your institution and showcase your writing skills.
