Sponsor-a-Mate: Atlassian Sponsors Java User Community.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Java User Groups (JUGs) can add one more company to their list of sponsors. Atlassian Software Systems, makers of popular Java software including JIRA, the professional issue tracker, today announced that they are offering additional support for Java User Groups. The company's Sponsor-a-Mate program, which takes its name from the company's Australian roots, helps the Java programmer community by giving them more resources for their grassroots efforts, including free software. A Java User Group is a community of users in an area who program applications in the Java software language.

Depending on the needs of each user group, Atlassian sponsorship can include any combination of the following items:

* Financial sponsorship to cover expenses

* Free Community licenses of their software: JIRA, Confluence (enterprise wiki software), Bamboo (continuous integration server), and Crowd (single sign-on authentication)

* Free Atlassian merchandise including the infamous "You've Got Issues" t-shirt, coffee mugs, stickers, and the like

* Promotion of user group events on Atlassian's blogs and extranet

"Developers are at the core of everything our company does," said Atlassian co-CEO and Java Champion Mike Cannon-Brookes. "The Sponsor-a-Mate program is one more way we are able to give back to the community."

Over the last five years, Atlassian has donated more than 2,500 free Community software licenses to Open Source projects and non-profits, including Apache, Spring Framework, MuleSource, British Red Cross, Mercy Ships, Amnesty International, BeJUG, Miami JUG, Cologne JUG, among others.
