Split rim wheels have split.


Due to safety concerns, the old HEMTT HEMTT Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck  split rim wheels are no longer available. You now have to order a new two-piece, bolt-together wheel.

Instructions for installing the new rims start on Page 12-32.1 of TM 9-2320-279-20-2.

Just because your HEMTT needs a new wheel doesn't does·n't

 mean you should do a complete swap-out. Split rims are still OK to use until they become unserviceable.

The bolt-together rim does require a tubeless tire, though, So Michelin XL tubed tires must be replaced with Michelin XZL or Goodyear AT2A tubeless tires Tubeless tires are pneumatic tires that do not require a separate butyl rubber inner tube.

Traditional designs of pneumatic tires required a separate inner tube which could fail for a number of reasons, such as: incorrect tire fitment, or friction between the tire wall and
