Specific benefits delivered by the new FieldOp platform include:

-- reduced mean time to repair;

-- increased staff compliance with the provider's Methods and

Procedures;

-- improved customer responsiveness;

-- enhanced revenue opportunities through the enabling of tiered

service levels;

-- extended dynamic visibility and scope to more quickly identify

location of troubles in the outside plant;

-- the ability to ensure all dispatches send the appropriate

technician with the right skills and tools to the correct

trouble location at the right time;

"Spirent is the first company to integrate workforce management, center-based service assurance, and field testing to offer carriers a solution that improves cost to service and quality of service," said Jim Schleckser, president of Spirent's Service Assurance division. "With FieldOp, carriers now have a proven solution for automating and optimizing these complex customer-facing functions -- while gaining a newfound new·found

The components of Spirent's FieldOp platform include:

-- REACT(TM) OSS for interactive and automated remote test

management of a wide variety of network services. REACT

provides the solution's capabilities for physical-level

transmission testing, logical-level protocol testing, and

non-intrusive performance monitoring, as well as overall test

workflow management.

-- CopperMax(TM)/RT and Veritor(TM)/BRTU remote network probes

that offer full-featured, end-to-end test capabilities for

both physical and logical layer connectivity, including

non-intrusive end-to-end circuit test access, from a highly

extensible single shelf.

-- CopperMax/OSP intelligent field test units that consolidate

the functions of several testers into a single, highly

affordable portable unit. Application-specific tests are

enabled in the unit through customizable scripts that ensure

test repeatability, and test results can be stored within the

unit or transferred to external devices and applications.

-- TASKFORCE, an expert field-force management OSS that offers a

fundamentally different approach to workforce management from

the rules-based decision-making used by legacy field force

solutions. This expert approach -- which continually and

dynamically optimizes the entire workforce picture in

real-time -- is increasingly necessary to support the growing

complexity of field services delivered by telecom service

providers, where superior customer service is becoming a

significant competitive differentiator. TASKFORCE's ability to

provide a carrier's call centers with real-time visibility on

service availability and related costs lets the provider offer

customers highly defined service windows, which keep customers

satisfied -- and assure compliance to Service Level Agreement

requirements -- while making sure any impacts to the

provider's operations are known and controlled.
