PEDl71 (Beginning Cave Exploring) is a "life time activity" course offered through the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at MWSC MWSC Missouri Western State College (St. Joseph, MO, USA)

The course description indicates it is an introduction to the sport of spelunking with an emphasis upon safety aspects and appreciation of cave ecology ecology, study of the relationships of organisms to their physical environment and to one another. The study of an individual organism or a single species is termed autecology; the study of groups of organisms is called synecology. . Students enrolled in PED n. 1. A basket; a hammer; a pannier. 171 receive nine hours of class instruction before participating in a caving trip. Topics covered before the caving trip include: cave formation, geographical distribution the natural arrangements of animals and plants in particular regions or districts.
