Speedline and EKRA enter legal battle.

Speedline Technologies (Franklin, MA, the legal entity name of Cookson Electronics Equipment, www.cooksonelectronics.com) has filed a patent infringement patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver.  lawsuit lawsuit: see procedure; tort.  against EKRA America, Inc.  a press release issued by Speedline, EKRA has been allegedly importing and selling in the U.S. screen printers having features or options covered by patents held by Speedline. Speedline seeks damages from EKRA's alleged infringement of the Speedline patents, as well as an injunction injunction, in law, order of a court directing a party to perform a certain act or to refrain from an act or acts. The injunction, which developed as the main remedy in equity, is used especially where money damages would not satisfy a plaintiff's claim, or to  prohibiting EKRA from further sales of the products in the U.S.

EKRA GmbH has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Speedline Technologies in the district court of Mannheim, Germany. The action was filed regarding Speedline's alleged infringement of EKRA's 2 1/2D inspection technology patents.

In the patent action, EKRA seeks damages for Speedline's alleged infringement of EKRA's patents, as well as an injunction prohibiting Speedline from further sale of the infringing products in Germany. This case is to be decided by the court in March 2003.
