Spectronics introduces new high-contrast fluorescence viewing cabinet.Westbury, N.Y.-based Spectronics Corporation has introduced the CM-10MP mini viewing cabinet, designed for any type of life science application requiring high-contrast fluorescence analysis. Spectronics touts the product as well-suited for viewing thin layer chromatography Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) is a chromatography technique used to separate chemical compounds [1]. It involves a stationary phase consisting of a thin layer of adsorbent material, usually silica gel, aluminium oxide, or cellulose immobilised onto a flat, plates and for quality control inspection of PC board. The viewing cabinet weighs 4 pounds with dimensions of 8.75 inches wide by 10 inches long by 4.5 inches high (in centimeters, that is 22.2 by 25.4 by 11.4). The company claims the size makes the cabinet compact for easy transport. The cabinet is made from high-impact plastic. The cabinet also has a contoured eyepiece EyepieceA lens or optical system which offers to the eye the image originating from another system (the objective), at a suitable viewing distance. The image can be virtual. with a built-in ultra-violet (UV)-absorbing window for safe viewing. The cabinet is compatible with Spectronics' MiniMax (games) minimax - An algorithm for choosing the next move in a two player game. A player moves so as to maximise the minimum value of his opponent's possible following moves. If it is my turn to move, I give a value to each legal move I might make. series of UV lamps, and there is space on the top part of the cabinet to accommodate one or two of these lamps. The MiniMax lamps are available in three models: UV-5A for long-wave UV (365 nano-meters), UV-5F for short-wave UV (254 nano-meters) and UV-5NF for a combination of both long- and short-wave UV emissions. Spectronics Corporation manufactures ultraviolet equipment and fluorescent materials. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] More info: (516) 333-4840; www.spectroline.com. |
