Special Solvents Clean PUR Equipment.

Four specialty solvents for cleaning polyurethane dispensing equipment and molds have been added to the Dynasolve line from Dynaloy, Inc., Indianapolis.

* Iso-Neutralizer is a low-toxicity, non-chlorinated, non-flammable solvent for preflushing unreacted isocyanates from metering equipment. It is intended to flush out the liquid isocyanate prior to the introduction of Dynasolve CU-6, a cyclic amide-based solvent, or other flushing agent to remove crystallized isocyanate or uncured prepolymer. Iso-Neutralizer inhibits gelling.

* Dynasolve 2000 amino-ethanol-based solvent is designed to clean micropore screens used in [CO.sub.2] foaming processes, which are often discarded once the PUR components have dried or cured. This solvent has a flash point higher than 200 F and works by simply soaking parts at room temperature. Screens saturated with cured PUR reportedly clean easily in less than 1 hr.

* MC-U-Gel is a non-flammable solvent designed to replace more aggressive, hazardous solvents for mold cleaning. A viscous liquid, it prevents splashing. It removes PUR residue but leaves silicone mold release agent on the mold, so the mold can go right back into production without needing to be re-seasoned.

* Mold Cleaner 1000 is a non-flammable solvent said to be particularly suited to cleaning silicone-rubber molds for rapid prototyping. It is also a viscous liquid that helps clean without splashes.
