BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 2000

Spatial Inc. (Nasdaq-AMEX: STY sty, in medicine, acute localized infection of one or more of the glands of the eyelid, with pain, swelling, and redness of the lid margin, usually caused by a staphylococcus infection. An external sty usually releases its pus and disappears in a day or so. ), theworld's leading developer of Web-hosted engineering application services, e-frastructure, interoperability solutions and open, component 3D modeling technology, today announced the beta release of 3Dpublish.com(TM) (www.3dpublish.com), a Web-based solution for capturing 2D images of 3D computer-aided design (CAD) models. 3Dpublish.com is the latest in a suite of Web-based application services offered by PlanetCAD, Spatial's Web division. PlanetCAD develops Internet-based tools to streamline the digital manufacturing supply chain for manufacturing and design engineers worldwide.

3Dpublish.com allows engineers, desktop publishers, technical writers and Web masters to take 2D digital "snapshots" of 3D models, by uploading their files to Spatial's secure server. The models are then automatically converted into 2D images. These images can be used for publishing, creating sales materials or archival purposes. During the beta period, 3Dpublish.com will be available on a free basis for registered users.

"3Dpublish.com makes it easy for basic image data to be distributed, viewed, archived and published within the manufacturing organization," said Rob Crawford, technical fellow at Spatial.

"We are delivering on our promise to rapidly produce Web-hosted application services to the manufacturing and design engineering market," said Isaac Kato, vice president and general manager, PlanetCAD Division, Spatial. "3Dpublish.com provides a vital online tool for enterprises that need 2D versions of their CAD models without undergoing high costs of entry and steep learning curves."

Users upload their CAD files to the 3Dpublish.com Web site using a standard Internet browser. Snapshot images are generated within minutes and are ready for download across secure, private pages using industry-standard security protocols. The service is entirely Web-based, requiring no hardware or software other than a computer and standard Internet browser to operate. Registered users at 3Dpublish.com can upload files in a range of 3D CAD formats including DWG (filename extension) dwg - The filename extension for Autodesk drawing files.

The service will be in open beta for a short time period while the technology undertakes thorough testing.

3Dpublish.com is the Internet version of Spatial's Ibatch graphics manipulation tool, which works in tandem with the company's IntraVISION(R) technology. IntraVISION is a software-based 2D/3D viewing solution for direct, reliable access to view, markup, measure and conversion for all major engineering product data.
