"The announcement of Spaceball certification by these leading CAD vendors is a vital step in Spacetec IMC's longterm strategy to provide seamless, `native' support for Spaceball 3D controllers in all CAD applications", said Karl Huber, Manager of ISV (Independent Software Vendor) A person or company that develops software. It implies an organization that specializes in software only and is not part of a computer systems or hardware manufacturer.  Relations for Spacetec IMC Corporation.

While the Spaceball certification process differs slightly for each major CAD application vendor, the core of the process, and the results, are similar. To gain this certification level, Spacetec has provided the SpaceWare SDK (Software Developer's Kit) See developer's toolkit and Windows SDK.

SDK - Software Developers Kit (or "Software Development Kit").
(software Developer's Kit See SDK. ) and driver libraries, in source code form, to the CAD vendor's integration teams. By having Spacetec development personnel working directly with these teams, the SpaceWare code has been successfully integrated into the CAD vendor's application codebase.

The result is that Spaceball 3D controller support is now part of the CAD vendors product release cycle, ensuring users will continue to gain the benefits of Spaceball functionality in future versions and point releases of the target application.

"Spacetec has been a valued partner of Unigraphics Solutions for over 8 years.", said John Baker of Unigraphics Solutions, "With over 40% of Unigraphics customers already realizing the benefits of increased interactivity with the Spaceball, this formalization of product integration should continue to deliver enhanced value to our customer base." Mr. Baker, a leading CAD industry veteran, has been integral in the definition and refinement of Spacetec IMC's next generation product line, helping to ensure that the new 3D controllers address the needs of the CAD user base at large.

About the Spaceball

Spaceball 3D motion controllers allow users to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D models as they build, modify and inspect their designs or animations - right within their 3D application. With six-degrees-of freedom (6D) motion control, users simply push, pull or twist the Spaceball's PowerSensor ball for smooth and dynamic X, Y, and Z axis translations and rotations. By providing a natural and intuitive method for moving and viewing 3D designs, users are able to focus their concentration on the model - not on the method required to move the model.

Benefits of using a Spaceball include simplified movement of large assemblies, improved design comprehension, increased productivity, earlier detection of errors and customizable software. These benefits result in reduced tooling costs, improved product reliability, greater opportunity for experimentation, and faster time to market.
