Space day. (Space).


On May 1, students, teachers, and visionaries from the U.S. and Canada will participate in Space Day, a celebration of space exploration. An annual educational event since 1997, Space Day is dedicated this year to the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight.

The nationwide event will include a Webcast co-hosted by astronomy astronomy, branch of science that studies the motions and natures of celestial bodies, such as planets, stars, and galaxies; more generally, the study of matter and energy in the universe at large.  and aviation experts and by 14-year-old Bianca Baker of Portsmouth, Virginia Portsmouth is an independent city located in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia.  in the merits of space exploration, Bianca has a special interest in the Red Planet.

"One day I would like to go to Mars because there's a big possibility that it could sustain human life," she told JS.

We asked what Bianca thinks about the future of U.S. space travel in the wake of the Columbia disaster.

"We just have to go on," she said. "It's hard, but that [setback] should just give us the determination to pick up and move forward."
