), today announced that they have entered into an agreement for five Delta III launches between 1999 and 2001.

Robert E. Berry Robert E. Berry was an American food scientist who was involved in citrus research with the United States Department of Agriculture (UDSA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) before becoming Editor-In-Chief of the Institute of Food Technologists' (IFT) , president of Space Systems/Loral, said, "We have a long history of using the highly reliable Delta launch vehicles and are pleased to continue this relationship with the agreement for the Delta III launcher. As an addition to our current backlog of launches, Delta III gives Space Systems/Loral another U.S.-based option to satisfy our future needs for access to space."

Delta III backlog is now 18 launches through 2002. The first Delta III launch is planned for 1998.

Designed to meet growing lift requirements for a wide range of missions, the Delta III provides a low-Earth orbit payload capability of 18,280 pounds and a geosynchronous transfer orbit capability of 8,400 pounds. This is twice the payload capability of the Delta II.
