Southwest division.


The Arizona state conference was held June 1-4 in Tucson. Presenters for the conference included Robert Vandall, George Litterst and James Giles. We extend our gratitude to President June Chow-Tyne for her gracious leadership over the past two years and welcome Dorothy Dungan, NCTM, as she begins her term.

The three Fellows of the American Pianists Association who performed at the MTNA National Conference in Seattle will headline the Hawaii state conference November 11-13. Thomas Rosenkranz, who will be teaching at the University of Hawaii (body, education) University of Hawaii - A University spread over 10 campuses on 4 islands throughout the state.

Katharine DeBoer and James Winn, pianist, will be the featured artists at the Nevada state conference. This year's conference will be held at the University of Nevada, Reno The University of Nevada, Reno (Nevada or UNR) is a university located in Reno, Nevada, USA, and is known for its programs in agricultural research, animal biotechnology, and mining-related engineering and natural sciences. , October 28-30.

The New Mexico state conference will be held in Hobbs at the New Mexico Junior College New Mexico Junior College is an institution of higher learning located less than 5 miles outside of Hobbs, New Mexico, in the southeastern corner of the state. It's baseball team won the NJCAA World Series in 2005, its first championship. The team is coached by Ray Birmingham.  and College of the Southwest College of the Southwest is a private non-denominational four-year educational institution located in Hobbs, New Mexico. It was incorporated under its current name in 1962, although the college existed several years prior to that as a two-year Baptist institution. , November 11-13. The guest artist/clinician for the conference will be Lora Deahl from Texas Tech University.

Utah will celebrate Fanny Mendelssohn's 200th birthday during its state conference, which will be held November 4-5 at Salt Lake Community College Although the college does not offer four-year degrees, school officials work with the state's other institutions of high learning to ensure that credits are transferable. General education credits may be transferred to any four-year school in Utah including private schools such as . Gail Smith will be the main presenter for this event.
