Performance evaluations, an annual statewide event open to piano students of all ages and levels, including adult and collegiate students, were held in October. A total 433 students participated, an increase of 80 percent over last year. Participants received constructive comments from the judges, and 20 percent were selected to perform at the honors recitals at the state conference. A record number of students participated in the UMTA/MTNA competitions this year. Judges commented on the superb quality of music teaching and student preparation in Utah. The 2003 UMTA UMTA Urban Mass Transportation Administration (DOT) UMTA Union of Myanmar Travel Association (Yangon, Myanmar) UMTA Utah Music Teachers Association UMTA Universal Mobile Telephony Association state conference was held at Brigham Young University Brigham Young University, at Provo, Utah; Latter-Day Saints; coeducational; opened as an academy in 1875 and became a university in 1903. It is noted for its law and business schools. in November, with Randall Faber as guest clinician. More than 50 percent of the membership attended this excellent, two-day event.
