) Southern Africa Minerals Corporation ("SAF") is pleased to announce that drilling on its wholly owned Molopo Project in Botswana, has thus far successfully penetrated kimberlite pipes in eleven of the first twelve holes.

Of these, four were known pipes previously drilled by Falconbridge, which were resampled with SAF's modern contracted reverse circulation (RC) drill in order to truth historical diamond intersections. Five of the seven new pipes were identified from recent airborne surveying, while the remaining two were targets previously identified by Falconbridge but never drill-tested.

Drilling is being performed on SAF's Molopo licences where 71 high priority targets have been identified. The 74 new targets are in addition to the 35 known kimberlite pipes of which 7 are known to be diamondiferous. Approximately 20 of the new targets are located in the confines of the known diamondiferous swarm which will be drill tested. Two of these targets are previously unknown satellite bodies of the M-1 Pipe which is recognized as the world's largest diatreme diatreme

The exploration (RC) holes are averaging approximately 150m which allows them to penetrate through the weathered epiblastic ep·i·blast

. This work is being performed by a reputable South African laboratory, and results from the first holes are expected toward the end of February.

The Molopo RC drilling is expected to total some thirty holes initially, which will be followed by approximately 10 holes at the Lekgodu Project, 20 holes at the Kokong Project and 10 holes at the Mabuaschube Project. Subsequent drilling will take the form of delineation and mini-bulk sample holes of the best of the kimberlites tested. The company will issue releases as results become available. -0-
