He does Dr. Beck's Viennese accent with assurance; his female characters are equally convincing. Southampton Row takes us into the seedy world of Victorian politics. In a previous novel Thomas Pitt foiled an attempt by Sir Charles Voisey to tear Victoria from the throne and become president. Voisey hates Pitt and avenges himself by using the newspapers. Pitt's assignment is to foil Voisey again. Politics. religion, contacting the dead, and poisoned raspberry tarts are critical. Page, an experienced reader with over 50 audiobooks to his credit, gives a full-voiced reading.
