SourceMedical Announces SurgiSource Release 4.4.


New Release Improves Billing, Scheduling, Reporting and Inventory Management Processes for Surgical Facilities

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- SourceMedical, a leading provider of information management solutions to the ambulatory surgery center ambulatory surgery center A free-standing center that performs various types of surgery , surgical hospital, practice, rehabilitation clinic and diagnostic imaging markets, has released SurgiSource version 4.4. The new release provides ambulatory surgery center(ASC ASC Ambulatory surgery center, see there ) customers with a number of enhancements to improve their billing, scheduling and inventory management processes, as well as other improvements.

With release 4.4, SurgiSource users can now capture and report primary payer adjustment amounts to facilitate the electronic submission of secondary claims, speeding the billing and payer reimbursement process. Customers using Emdeon as their claims clearinghouse can now electronically bill Medicare Secondary claims with the appropriate adjustment codes, and SurgiSource 4.4's adjustment screen now allows adjustment information to be entered at the line item level. To maximize patient safety, SurgiSource 4.4's scheduling reports which reference a surgical site have been updated to display the full modifier (programming) modifier - An operation that alters the state of an object. Modifiers often have names that begin with "set" and corresponding selector functions whose names begin with "get".  name to safeguard against wrong site surgical procedures Surgical procedures have long and possibly daunting names. The meaning of many surgical procedure names can often be understood if the name is broken into parts. For example in splenectomy, "ectomy" is a suffix meaning the removal of a part of the body. To support ASC's multi-vendor supply ordering and inventory management needs, SurgiSource's inventory module now accommodates supply vendor numbers up to 10 characters. And, to facilitate the exchange of scheduling and demographic data with SourceMedical's SourcePlus EHR (Electronic Health Records) Computerized medical records that bring patient care into the digital age and save time, money and lives. The push to adopt comprehensive electronic documentation between doctors' offices and hospital settings intensified after the RAND  solution, SurgiSource now offers an outbound export function that eliminates dual data entry and saves staff time. The release also includes several other enhancements designed to improve staff productivity and efficiency.
